Anthony Magee discusses open X-Haul architectures at CW Tec

Session to explore the use of optical fiber for backhaul and midhaul

Mobile cell sites are evolving to require ever higher capacity backhaul while also increasingly moving to a centralized RAN architecture in urban areas. The introduction of massive MIMO antenna systems has driven the adoption of active antenna units that require a direct optical fiber connection between the radio/antenna system and the baseband unit.

In this session, Anthony Magee will explore the use of optical fiber for backhaul and midhaul while also investigating the use of fiber-based fronthaul in support of RF over fiber deployments, carrying CPRI, eCPRI and/or Open Fronthaul.
