Kaida Kaeval shares R&D insights for disaggregated network monitoring at OFC

Session will discuss trials of performance monitoring in long-haul disaggregated infrastructure

  • Speaker: Kaida Kaeval, senior engineer, advanced technology, ADVA
  • Topics: Concatenated GSNR profiles for end-to-end performance estimations in disaggregated networks
  • When: Wednesday, March 9, 5:45 p.m. PST
  • Where:  OFC, The Optical Networking and Communication Conference & Exhibition, San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, USA and virtual conference: https://www.ofcconference.org/en-us/home/registration/

As optical spectrum as a service (OSaaS) is gaining traction among operators as a feasible way to avoid O-E-O signal regeneration at domain borders, methods to characterize the service without revealing any business-critical information are being developed.

In this talk, Kaida Kaeval will discuss the usability of profiles based on generalized signal-to-noise ratio (GSNR) to estimate the end-to-end performance of multi-domain disaggregated networks. She will explain how concatenated core-to-core and core-to-metro route performance can be computed based on individual link characterizations to enable achievable capacity estimations over the OSaaS. The session will outline how an accuracy of ±1.4dB has been achieved over a live network stretching 3116km, providing operators with a vital tool for estimating the end-to-end OSaaS performance and achievable capacity in a procurement phase or before service handover. Register now for the in-person or virtual event beginning March 6.
