Recently ADVA conducted Europe’s first 5G-ready railway trial in an operational environment by combining a passive wavelength-agnostic WDM for optical transport and 60GHz millimeter-wave for wireless connectivity. In this extended talk, Jim Zou will share insights from the EU Horizon 2020 project 5G-PICTURE’s demo and explain how it achieved multi-Gbit/s seamless connectivity from track-side access points to a fast-moving train.
