Helmut Griesser delivers OFC short course on security in the quantum age

Topics include protecting today's optical networks and post-quantum cryptography

  • Speakers: Helmut Griesser, director, advanced technology, ADVA; Andrew Shields, assistant managing director, Toshiba Research Europe
  • Topics: Secure optical communications
  • When: Sunday, March 8, 9 a.m.
  • Where: OFC, The Optical Networking and Communication Conference & Exhibition, San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, USA

This intro to optical network encryption is divided into two parts. The first explains the current state of the technology, beginning with an introduction of the most important cryptographic primitives and how these can be used to secure digital communication. The second discusses why quantum computers pose a threat to current cryptographic protocols and examines the most promising concepts for making encryption quantum-resistant. Post-quantum cryptography as well as quantum key distribution will be discussed.

Book your place to join Helmut Griesser and Andrew Shields at the OFC Conference, March 8 in San Diego.
