Achim Autenrieth opens OFC panel on network slicing

Discussion will cover technology’s role in enabling dynamic networking and 5G deployments

  • Panel: Achim Autenrieth, ADVA; Niranjan Avula, Verizon Communications; Anderson Bravalheri, University of Bristol; Gagan Choudhury, AT&T Labs; Lydon Ong, Ciena Corp.; Jonathan Sadler, Coriant
  • Topics: Network infrastructure virtualization and network slicing
  • When: Thursday, March 7, 2 p.m.
  • Where: OFC, The Optical Networking and Communication Conference & Exhibition, San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, USA

Used to unify and extend the concepts of optical network virtualization and network functions virtualization, network slicing has emerged as a key enabler for 5G connectivity and dynamic networking. Its applicability domains include intra-data center networks as well as access, aggregation/metro and core network segments.

Achim Autenrieth will begin this OFC panel with his presentation, “Optical network virtualization and 5G network slicing – bridging the gap.” The panel will then explore the concept from multiple perspectives, including the operators’ view, requirements for dynamic management and orchestration and emerging industry standards.
