ADVA reports results of 5G fronthaul trials at OFC

Jörg-Peter Elbers will outline how next-gen solutions can drive optical networks to levels needed for uRLLC

  • Speaker: Jörg-Peter Elbers, SVP, advanced technology, ADVA
  • Topics: Challenges 5G brings to optical fiber communications systems: Next-generation optical fronthaul in the iCirrus Project
  • When: Monday, March 12, 2 p.m.
  • Where: OFC, San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, USA

The challenges and opportunities of 5G demand solutions that will have an impact on all sectors of the telecommunications industry. 5G connectivity will usher in a common network infrastructure for a variety of diverse applications, spanning across enhanced mobile broadband services and the internet of things, supporting massive IoT and ultra-reliable low-latency communications. This will bring new distributed cloud entities to within no more than 40km from every user and drive the performance of the optical network to new levels.

In this session, Jörg-Peter Elbers will discuss next-generation fronthaul solutions for 5G and legacy radio access networks. He will also report on architectures, findings and experimental results from recent lab and field trial activities.
