Some of the biggest names in global technology, such as Google and Facebook, have invested heavily in data centers across the Nordic region. This boom has been fueled by low operational costs such as cheap and renewable energy. Meanwhile, smaller operators are busy drawing customers north with individualized Tier 3 and 4 services, delivering a higher degree of local optimization. They are offering non-standard, tailor-made solutions for enterprises demanding low-layer encryption, enhanced disaster recovery or simply a more environmentally friendly cloud service.

Dieter Will’s presentation will outline new opportunities for tailor-made connectivity solutions, such as those provided by Cinia’s C-Lion1 subsea cable and its open optical line system. These enable operators to easily and quickly access data centers in the Node Pole without significant upfront development costs. Service providers in central Europe can leave the infrastructure challenge completely to the Nordic data center and focus solely on customers, services and generating revenue.
