ADVA Optical Networking to Outline Latest Developments in Quantum Key Distribution
France IX Presentation to Show How Quantum Computers Will Make Current Key Exchange Protocols Obsolete
- Speaker: Helmut Grießer, director, advanced technology, ADVA Optical Networking
- Topic: How to Quantum-Secure Optical Networks
- When: Friday, September 30, 11 a.m.
- Where: France IX General Meeting, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Paris, France
The introduction of large scale quantum computers is set to render almost all of current key exchange protocols useless. For optical fiber networks, quantum key distribution (QKD) seems to be the natural answer to this challenge, but it has its limitations. On the other hand, there are alternatives that potentially could provide an even more seamless replacement to current key-exchange algorithms.
At the France IX General Meeting, Helmut Grießer will briefly revisit QKD and algorithmic approaches for quantum-save encryption for optical networks. He will discuss the most important pros and cons and outline the most likely way forward.
