Sorin Tibuleac

Director, system architecture

Sorin leads R&D activities in optical system design; including research in optical fiber transmission, feasibility studies of new technologies and architectures, developing optical system specifications and engineering rules for network deployments.


He is also an adjunct professor at the electrical and computer science department of Georgia Tech, where he advises graduate students on their optics research. Between 2001 and 2006, he held key positions in system design and product management at Movaz Networks, where he was involved in evaluation, integration and deployment of the first-generation ROADM systems as well as developing engineering rules for all Movaz DWDM deployments.


Previously, Sorin worked at GTE, where he evaluated and supported the deployment of the first commercially available ultra-long haul DWDM systems. He graduated from the University of Bucharest, Romania with a diploma in applied physics, and holds masters and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington.
