Director, global sustainability

Klaus Grobe is the leader of ADVA's global sustainability program and is focused on improving the energy efficiency of telecommunication networks. By using circular economy techniques, Klaus is helping to reduce waste and improve recycling. A highly experienced telecommunications expert, Klaus has worked for over 25 years in the fields of lightwave guides and WDM. He has also spent several years in the crossover area of telecommunications and oceanology.


Klaus is one of the main authors of Wavelength Division Multiplexing – A Practical Engineering Guide (Wiley, 2014) and he has authored and co-authored more than 100 technical publications on WDM and PON technologies. He holds more than 30 (pending) patents. His research interests include next-generation broadband access networks as well as high-speed WDM transport. Klaus works in ITG Study Group 5.3.3 on Photonic Networks, in FSAN and ITU SG15-Q.2 on NG-PON2 and with the QuEST Forum Sustainability Initiative.
