Telefónica Germany Uses ADVA FSP 3000 CloudConnect™ in 200G Joint Trial
ADVA Optical Networking’s OpenFabric™ Technology Creates Simple, Flexible Optical Cross-Connect in Live Disaggregated Network
Our FSP 3000 OpenFabric™ enables a mix of optical services and scale. It provides network operators with total flexibility, allowing them to easily manage their traffic to meet demand.
The nationwide field trial involved Telefónica Germany’s major metro hubs including Düsseldorf and Frankfurt. As well as transporting third-party 200Gbit/s wavelengths across 290km, the test also succeeded in transmitting disaggregated 100Gbit/s signals across 1,300km without the need for regeneration. What’s more, 300Gbit/s capacity was achieved using ADVA Optical Networking’s unique QuadFlex™ line card to combine two 150Gbit/s wavelengths operating at 8QAM within an optical super-channel. Designed for scalability and bandwidth optimization, the ADVA FSP 3000 CloudConnect™ platform offers unrivalled efficiency. It delivers huge energy savings and, with its 1RU footprint, consumes less rack space than competing technology. Also key to the joint trial was the FSP 3000 OpenFabric™, an entirely new optical transport network (OTN) cross-connect design. It creates a distributed architecture optimized for the metro, enabling carriers like Telefónica Germany to simply and efficiently aggregate lower-speed services.
“Our innovation is redefining optical transport. As this trial demonstrates, service providers now have the power to leverage so much more value from their deployed infrastructure. With our latest solutions, such as the new approach to OTN cross-connects offered by our FSP 3000 OpenFabric™, we’re expanding the boundaries of possibility,” commented Frank Hering, director, sales, Germany, ADVA Optical Networking. “Our FSP 3000 OpenFabric™ removes slot capacity assignments and the proprietary fabric adapters of a closed system, enabling a mix of optical services and scale. It provides network operators with total flexibility, allowing them to easily manage their traffic to meet demand. We’re proud that our technology and continued support is empowering Telefónica Germany to explore the newest and most innovative avenues towards open, agile and ultra-high-capacity service delivery.”
