ADVA Optical Networking Wins 2016 Pipeline Innovation Award for Network Technology

Ensemble Connector Garners Critical Acclaim for NFV Achievements

ADVA Optical Networking today announced that it has won the Pipeline Innovation Award for Network Technology. The ADVA Ensemble Connector received critical acclaim from judges at a gala ceremony held yesterday in Nice, France. Already deployed in a number of major networks, the ADVA Ensemble Connector is the industry’s only pure-play network functions virtualization (NFV) hosting platform. It has the ability to help communication service providers (CSPs) quickly provision dynamic services with best-in-class software from multiple vendors. The innovation award underlines ADVA Optical Networking’s NFV strategy to help CSPs transform the delivery of carrier-class services.
We’re giving CSPs the power to unleash new applications in an instant. That gives them the freedom to innovate, to take risks and experiment with new offerings.

“ADVA Ensemble Connector is a powerful open software foundation for hosting virtual network functions (VNFs) from many vendors. It creates a dynamic and automated service delivery environment for carrier-class services,” said Prayson Pate, CTO, Ensemble Division, ADVA Optical Networking. “Industry expert validation from the Pipeline program is important in this innovation phase of network virtualization. It calls attention to how our Ensemble solutions make NFV real and profitable for our customers. Operators like Masergy and DartPoints are already utilizing our Ensemble technology to provide enterprises with agile, cost-efficient software-based services. 2016 is set to be an exciting year for NFV as more CSPs move from theoretical discussion to actual deployment."

With the ADVA Ensemble Connector, CSPs can leverage virtualization, automation and orchestration as tools to create, activate and assure dynamic new services. It provides a low-risk NFV platform that delivers multi-Gbit/s performance on low-cost server platforms, while providing low-latency zero-packet-loss data paths. The ADVA Ensemble Connector ensures CSPs are no longer dependent on any specific vendor for equipment. It runs on any 1 or 10 Gigabit Ethernet Intel x86-based commercial off-the-shelf platform and, with many deployment options, offers an unprecedented level of control. CSPs can determine whether to place the ADVA Ensemble Connector at customer premises, metro edge, in central offices or cloud data centers.

“Winning the Pipeline Award for Innovations in Network Technology is a real honor. It highlights the impact our Ensemble Connector has had on the industry and how valuable it’s proving to be in the networks where it’s already been deployed,” commented Stephan Rettenberger, VP, marketing and investor relations, ADVA Optical Networking. “We’re giving CSPs the power to unleash new applications in an instant. That gives them the freedom to innovate, to take risks and experiment with new offerings. It’s great to stop and reflect on what we’ve achieved but our team knows this is really just the beginning. As our Ensemble Connector helps more businesses harness automation and virtualization, we’re going to see advancements we can barely conceive of today.”
