Science Based Targets initiative
With our strong record on sustainability, we’re now able to set our own areas of focus. Since we regard global warming as one of the world’s most pressing problems, we decided to concentrate on emissions and, in 2016, ADVA committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In Q3/2017, the group submitted its target proposals for official evaluation based on the SBTi’s three categories of emissions (Scope 1, 2 and 3). After fruitful in-depth discussions with the SBTi, our targets were approved in March 2019. This made us the 200th company globally and just the fourth in Germany with validated SBTi targets.
Our three absolute emissions-reduction targets are:
- 20% on car-fleet emissions
- 20% on purchased-electricity emissions
- 3% on sold-products use-phase emissions
With a runtime of 15 years, these targets will determine our sustainability strategy over this period.
